Refresh Data from NetSuite
Refresh Data from NetSuite
Finsyte makes it easy to control when data from NetSuite returned into your Excel workbook is refreshed. Finsyte, by default, automatically updates all data from NetSuite periodically without users having to manually select the options below. The options are made available to ensure immediate return if point-in-time data is needed.

Refresh Data
| Select This | To Do This |
|---|---|
| Entire Workbook | Re-calculate all Finsyte calculations (=FSN) in all sheets in the Excel Workbook. Also refreshes List Data. |
| Current Sheet | Re-calculation all Finsyte calculations (=FSN) on the current active Worksheet only. |
| List Data | Finsyte caches data that isn't frequently updated. This includes GL Accounts, Subsidiaries, Periods, Budget Categories, and all segments. Select List Data to return to NetSuite and pull the most up-to-date information for these cached fields. This selection will also refresh the current sheet's calculations (as if Current Sheet was selected as well). |
| Purge Function Cache | In the rare cases where a user encounters function values not displaying correctly and instead displaying #N/A, the Purge Cache option may be used to clear out any saved function calls to ensure Finsyte will pull new information from NetSuite at that time. As this cache purging is specifically related to functions, this is not used for the List cache. |
| Refresh Data Connections | This option is the same as the Refresh All option in Excel's Data tab. This gets all the latest data sources and refreshes them. If you've bound data inside of Power Query and want the connections to refresh, after refreshing your workbook, select this option. |
| Cancel | Upon refresh of data in a workbook, the Refresh dropdown will change to display Cancel. Selecting Cancel will halt the NetSuite fetch of data and may result in cells indicating errors due to data not being loaded in fully. This option will disappear once data is loaded. |
Note: During a refresh or load of data from NetSuite, updates about progress will display in the bottom left corner of the Excel instance.
Pause Connection
By selecting Pause Connection, you can edit a workbook in Excel without any calculations taking time to access NetSuite and pull back data. This is great for designing more complex reports to ensure there is no waiting for functions to return data during design time.

Selecting Pause Connection will change the button appearance to say Resume Connection at which time a user can select the button again to call NetSuite for data returns at that time.

Refresh Selection
Refresh selection allows users to quickly refresh the data being pulled from NetSuite. The right click option is available for single cell selection or range selections.
Warning: Refresh Selection Limitation: This feature does not work for balances being pulled using Finsyte generated account numbers (ex: FSN_L1_AST).
